Recipes of American and other drinks

The Book "Recipes of American and other Iced Drinks" was published in London. It has no date, but from the advertisements on the last sides it must have been published around 1900. It is a mixed drinkbook published and illustrated by Farrow & Jackson, Limited, London. Manufacturers of Bar Appliances, Mineral Water Machinery, etc.

An interesting fact is, that they sell the Boston Shaker under the name "Cobbler Mixers". Maybe at this time cobbler has been a synonym for mixed drinks generally, as today cocktail is a synonym for mixed drinks.

Here is the first time that the term "The Boston" emerges. But look at the illustration. This is definitely a three part shaker.

So I wonder why Dale De Groff refers to this book in a thread of Drinkboy's forum when he is asked what he means by the term "Cobbler Mixer" describing a three part Mixer.
